11-25 update

I switched programs to Revit to get a better feel of the floor plans and circulation.

I am working in rhino to edit and update my dome façade and linking the massing to Revit.

The dome is temporarily represented as a solid panel curtain wall system because I plan on creating openings according to the function of the finished floor plan.

My next step is to complete the floor plans to help me use its function to guide the façades shape.

  1. I still believe that the first mass is overpowering. They proportion and scale of the two geometries are not talking the same language yet. Also you must at least show the first floor in context. How do I get into the building. Site development is as important as the building itself.
And how are you dealing with Sandy?

  2. This is still being designed in a vacuum. Without context, there is little by means of finding scale, adjacencies, contextual cues, etc. Not to question the efficacy of REVIT as a production tool, but it is not the best "design" tool to work with. If you are already taking the time to model in Rhino, stich with the more design centric tool. Rhino in top view can produce coherent enough documents to relay plans...in side views with split objects generate sections, and make 2d's of any facade become elevations. Throw those into illustrator, or pdf them into in-design and you are home free. It still seems like the software is your bottleneck.
